Hi - thanks for 3 really interesting and balanced articles. It was interesting hear you talk about Heidi Baker - I was in one of the Iris Ministries orphanages in Mozambique last year, and it's amazing to see some of the fruit of her ministry.

I'm in the process of beginning a Christian discussion-based podcast, and we're going to be tackling the Lakeland Revival in the first full episode due out at the end of this month - your posts have definitely given food for thought. Thanks!

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your kind comments. I'm interested to know which church you attend in Perth! I still have friends there. And yes, please do return and share your thoughts on anything you read.

Cheers!

Having co-led a Bible Study fluctuating from about 10 to 25 people many years ago where I was the only charismatic, I can speak with a bit of authority about what it takes to lead people to an understanding of Holy Spiritual Gifting, how God led me to answer some of the most difficult questions concerning healing services and what I takes to contend with the outright criticisms against 'toungs', etc. which can be right in your face from some, and how you maneuver in truth and honesty as you are eventually trusted as a Friend by those who in some cases do, in fact, get Baptized in the Holy Spirit to the amazement of the some of those who were the critics !! !! You must quote key Bible verses in honesty and with level fairness. If you do that, people will respect you when you finally get to controversial "charismatic" scriptures. I would visit their churches and compliment their leaders when they did a good job especially on the sermon. That then gave me legitimacy when I invited them to my church especially when Mahesh Chavda shows up in town for a healing service just down the street. (Mahesh is now on the God Channel on DirecTV on Monday night. But back then He was "relatively" unknown.) There's no question, this witnessing to share the truth about Holy Spiritual Gifts with non-charismatics is definitely a kind of Evangelism; not for Salvation, but for God's Empowerment for Service. I have so many stories. But the reason I've shared all this to say this. It amazes me a bit that there are still critics of anything to do with Gift of the Holy Spirit here in the twenty first century!! God help us. I don't know how to tell you this but it is not Todd Bentley's responcibily to back-up to answer any Christian critic. Some of these so called critics have little or no understand of the Power of God because they don't know their Bibles from a hole in the ground, and in their undiscipled laziness, they somehow think egotistically that their criticisms mean anything. Celebrate the Healing Power of God,,,see what is happening righteously and embrace the GOOD. These critics strike me as almost like pharisees: "oh Jesus you can't heal on the Sabbath...." Critics always never embrace the multiplicity of GOOD, but instead need to find fault devaluing even the Savior to falsely exalt themselves. How vain and selfish. God have mercy on them.

I stumbled across your blog today and have found an amazing resonance with the things you have written.

I love your comments on the Florida Outpouring and am in awe at your wisdom and insights. I too have been encouraged by people such as Bill Johnson, Brian McLaren, Rolland & Heidi Baker, Rob Rufus etc.

I live in Perth WA and so was also interested that you have spent some time here :)

I look forward to returning to this blog in the future to share in your journey with you and benefit from the wisdom that you so graciously share with us.

hi there, i found your blog while searching for comments on ncc and ps joseph prince. i have read a couple of your postings (not ncc or jp specific) and am drawn to your balanced take on the many issues christianity struggles with. we need more people like that; who are discerning and willing to learn. i have come across too many loud ones who are on opposite extremes.
